To Fix or Not To Fix
Have you ever bought an item from the store, come home excited to look at it again, then realize its broken… fixable, but broken. To make it worse, it was the last item of that certain size you needed?
Jermie and I went out to Meijer to pickup some birthday gifts for little Ms R. She kills through shoes since she is so active! Came across a great deal, buy one pair at full price and get the second pair for a dollar! So excited at this find, we picked up a pair of cute black slip on shoes and a pair of play shoes (pink with polka dots!!).
Feeling super thrifty, we did a high-five and checked out.
As I was taking off the price tags… I almost cried, the black shoes… broken, the elastic that held them to her foot came out on one side… bummer! So, I thought and thought, do I super glue it back in? Can I fit the shoe under my sewing machine and stitch it back in? Do i just cut off the elastic and have them be ballet flats?
After much thought I chose to hand stitch the elastic to the shoe. Really how hard could it be?
It worked great, I even reinforced all the spots where the elastic was entering the sides of the shoes. (Just incase) I just used matching thread and a sewing needle. Had to get some force behind the needle so i used a thick pad of paper to help push through the shoe.
I am very proud of myself and now Ms R has another pair of cute shoes for her birthday present!
