About Jesy

Who is JKessel Design aka Jesy?

HI! I am  Jesy K, Owner and Artisan of JKessel Design, Co-Owner of Sew Dayton.Jesy Anderson  I am a wife, step-mom, sister, daughter and friend.  I started JKessel Design as a side business about 6 years ago, only focusing on painting, photography and art.   Four years ago I purchased my first sewing machine and starting sewing items for co-workers and online sales.

After working for a company for 11.5 years, I was laid off in Oct. 2011. It was scary and exciting at the same time. It has given me a chance to pursue my dreams of opening a small business, JKessel Design. Something that I never would have been able to pull off without this “kick” in the butt. It gave me the strength to try. So that is what I am doing!

I married to my best friend and high school classmate on May 19, 2012.

I have continued to strengthen my skills and try to learn as much as I can about everything related to my passion.  In this, I pass this  tradition with little Ms. R, I try to show her how there is beauty in everything, to look at items a bit differently. I teach her it is OK to not be perfect. I have learned that it’s the imperfections that make life beautiful.

I have teamed up with another talented local seamstress to open a shop right here in town. “Sew Dayton” which is a fun sewing shop, giving lessons, doing custom orders and selling some choice items!!  Sew Dayton opened on September 14 2012, and we are still going strong! I love teaching people to sew, helping them through hiccups.

It’s amazing that I am doing what I love!

I like to call myself a “Jack of all, Master of Some”  I do dabble in a lot of different things, but to me that is the best way to learn, grow and blossom.

I am happy as long as I can create beautiful, fun, and high quality items for people to cherish and enjoy.  I love seeing smiles from my customers, I love hearing how the clutch they gave as a gift to their best friend was her favorite gift, or the print was perfect for their nursery.

If I am not seeing people smile then I am doing something wrong or need to change something. So far, all smiles which in turns makes me the luckiest girl alive! Spreading happiness is the perfect job for me!
