My name is Jesy K, a 32-year-old step-mom to be (in May) to an amazing little 5-year-old girl and a loving partner to my fiancé Jermie. We were not high school sweethearts, but we did go to high school together. In July of 2007, our paths crossed again and we have been together since. This past August he proposed to me and of course I said YES!

I grew up on the same street that I live now. So many memories on this stretch of pavement; I’ve lived in other cities and states but Dayton, Ohio has always been home to me. Years ago… I learned to love art. I remember sitting at the dinning room table watching my mom draw on fabrics. I have great memories of my mom sewing my clothing, making my Halloween costumes, and teaching me how to draw. She was always doodling something.

I have continued the tradition of art with little Ms. R, my soon to be stepdaughter. I try to show her how there is beauty in everything, to look at items a bit differently and its OK to not be perfect. I have learned that it’s the imperfections that make life beautiful.

After working for a company for 11.5 years, I was laid off in Oct. 2011. It was scary and exciting at the same time. It has given me a chance to pursue my dreams of opening a small business. Something that I never would have been able to pull off without this “kick” in the butt. It gave me the strength to try. So that is what I am doing!

My passion is art.

I love that I can express a feeling at one point through a brush stroke, a quick fat erotic line on a sketch, a web design layout, the click of the shutter or a stitch of the sewing machine.

I have painted mostly in acrylic since Junior High and sketching/drawing since I was a kid. It’s what I am most comfortable doing.

I purchased a Canon Rebel XT DSLR in August of 2006 and it’s still going strong. I love it. I have always enjoyed photography. This is helping me refine my craft. (I took Photography 1 & 2 in high school, before the age of digital camera’s… so I might still remember how to process film!)

I bought a sewing machine in Sept. 2010 and started to create new items out of old! Its been so much fun to get into something different and get new idea’s and re-purpose old items! Its been fun learning a new craft!

Everything that I have learned over the years, be it in class or self-taught has brought me closer to what I hope to achieve. I welcome constructive criticisms, I would love to know what you like and dislike about my work.
