Update on Budget Friendly Centerpeices Jesy Jkessel Design - Sewing, Photography, Painting & Design

Centerpieces that are budget and environmentally friendly are all the rage now.  Here is a sneak peek at the wedding centerpieces that I am currently constructing.

Since I became engaged last August, I have collected all types of glass containers. My family and friends have set them aside for me also, it’s been fun seeing all the different colors of glass and shapes. I have everything from baby food jars, to wine bottles, to pickle jars. All unique and fun.  I knew right away that I wanted bottles as my centerpieces, I am cheap I will admit it, anything that I can do to save money and make myself I will.

So this project will be both, economically and landfill friendly and I know once the project is done and the wedding is over, my guests will have a beautiful container of flowers from the tables to take home and hopefully keep or recycle the glass!

I know these will be a big statement in my wedding!

Step 1

Gather all your bottles!

Step 2

Using water and razor blades.. and our fingernails, we painstakingly removed all the labels from 140 bottles. Some bottles had  printed labels on the glass but that is OK, it will give a neat texture to the bottle after the coats of paint!

Step 3

Once you have all the labels removed, give them a quick rinse to get all the little pieces of dried glue and paper off the bottles and let them dry.

Step 4

Once everything has dried, time to break out the good stuff to remove all the extra sticky glue that wouldn’t come off before.
